Driving from Orikum to Dhermi you have to pass through the famous Llogara Pass, a spectacular winding road, rising up to 1027 m, overlooking the Ionian coast and the Albanian Riviera. Llogara Pass is nestled in the middle of Cika Mountain range. Just walk out of the car and enjoy the breathtaking view. Some decent restaurants which overlook the white beaches, will offer local fresh food which match the panoramic sight. Sea embraces high mountains in a very graceful way. Sea, delicious food, music and lively atmosphere will keep you in an adventurous mood during all your stay. The seaside town of Himara is one of Riviera’s best places to visit surrounded by fancy beaches which are favourite destinations of young people from Europe because of international music festival like Turtle Fest and Soundwave Albania. If you go further in south you will visit Saranda, the town of forty Saints. Saranda is a costal town about 14 km east of the northern end of island of Corfu. If you plan to go there from Corfu by cruise ship you can visit ancient ruins of Butrint, an UNESCO World Heritage site. Many tourists visit this town because they are attracted by the natural environment and archeological sites. You can visit Lekursi Castle, Monastery of 40 Saints, Mirror Beach, Pulebardha Beach and of course the highlight is Butrint. If camper will be your means of trasport, you have made the right decision to tour best destionations of Albania. Next site, Gjirokastra. Gjirokastra is almost 6 hours away from Saranda. The trip is somehow long but for someone with adventurous spirit with be worth the try. Gjirokaster is a city in southern Albania, on a valley between the Gjere Mountains and Drino, 300 metres above sea level. It is a Unesco World Heritage. It is worldwide known for being the hometown of the most famous Albanian writer Ismail Kadare and dictator Enver Hoxha. Don't leave Gjirokastra without sightseeing: Castle, Ethnographic museum and old city.If you are exhausted, you would better take a break in Korce. After eating and taking a nap, you can sightsee the entire town for about 3 hours. Start by visiting the National Museum of Medieval Art, First Albanian School, orthodox Cathedral and head toward the old Bazar where you can enjoy traditional food and drinks. The renovated bazar with its unique spirit has always a welcoming atmosphere, winter or summer it is. Twenty minutes drive from Korce you will be in Pogradec. If you are hungry just pull over. The well known trout of Ohrid can be savoured in the local restaurants while breathing the fresh air next to “gjoli”.
