Today swears new president. Will Ilir Meta be a president for all albanians?!

Today at 18:00 former LSI party leader and Speaker of Parliament Ilir Meta will be sworn in as President of the Republic of Albania. On Monday, Ilir Meta will take his oath as President of Republic for a 5 year term in office. President of Albania Bujar Nishani signed Friday the decree to convene parliament of Albania in an extraordinary session for the swearing-in ceremony of President of the Republic on 24 July 2017. The swearing in will take place at the presidential palace on the Boulevard of the Martyrs in Tirana. Ilir Meta was elected on 28 April 2017 President of the Republic of Albania with 87 votes pro and 2 against. He will be inaugurated as the 7th President of the Republic of Albania. Meta will hold the post of President of the Republic antil 2022. He will take over the function from Bujar Nishani. Mr. Ilir Meta will head at the Presidency where he will be received by the outgoing Nishani to make submissions under the state protocol and then take part in the inaugural ceremony in front of the Presidency. The inauguration events will kick off with the swearing-in ceremony at 6pm at the Assembly plenary hall. After taking the oath and singing of the National Anthem. National Anthem performed by the Military Brass Band will be followed by 21 canons shooting each with 30 seconds of intervals. The new President of the Republic will hold a welcoming speech in front of the Assembly. The Diplomatic Corps accredited to Albania as well as political, social and religious personalities of the country will be attending the ceremony. Subsequently, Honorary Corps parades before the President of the Republic, Ilir Meta while the Director of the State Protocol invites the Chairman of the Constitutional Court to symbolically hand over the Constitution of the Republic of Albania to the newly sworn in President, Ilir Meta, while stating: “Dear Mr. President, I have the honour to hand over the Constitution of the Republic of Albania.” The inauguration ceremony follows with President. Meta’s address to the nation. Meta didn’t plan to become president, a function that was offered to him by Prime Minister Edi Rama after three rounds of presidential elections in a Parliament boycotted by the DP failed to produce any candidates. Although he stepped down from his role as SMI leader, that he led for 13 years in a row. He was very present during the electoral campaign. Recently the SMI’s leadership was taken over by Meta’s wife Monika Kryemadhi. She will be head of the opposition. However, she will not attend the ceremony. Meta will be accompanied by his daughter. Three days before officially taking his post as President of Albania, Speaker Ilir Meta has received a message from Pope Francis. The Holy Father congratulates Meta for his duty that will start soon. It remains to be seen whether Meta would know to be a president of all albanian.
