The EC proposes opening the borders to the Balkans on 1 July

The European Commission on Thursday recommended the gradual opening of the European Union's external borders on July 1, for foreign nationals, given the epidemiological situation. In the European Commission's proposal, restrictions have been asked to be lifted for all Western Balkan countries: Kosovo, Albania, Northern Macedonia, Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia. The commission justified this request with the fact that "their epidemiological situation is similar or even better than in the EU." Regarding other countries, the Commission has proposed that the decisions be conditioned by the epidemiological situation in them, the possibility of testing, monitoring of infected persons and the restrictions that those countries have on the entry and exit of EU citizens.
