The biggest problem facing Greece Its relations with neighbors.
The Greek public opinion showed in a poll that they consider Turkey an enemy neighbour. A large part of the participants perceives other neighbours the same way.
A poll published by “Ethnos†showed that 87% of Greeks consider Turkey enemy no1, and 63% fear there could be heated incidents between both countries.
Asked if they consider another neighbour as the enemy, 47% perceive Albania, 45% perceive Macedonia, and 10% consider Bulgaria as the enemy.
When asked if there is any chance that their territorial integrity could be threatened by neighbours, 27% said yes for Albania. The same percentage was for Macedonia, but for Turkey, it was 78%.
If these countries join the EU, 56% of Greeks say that Albania’s stance towards Greece will improve, and the same goes for Macedonia. 64% of them think that this will not happen with Turkey.
The survey was conducted through telephone interviews between 16-23 April 2018 in a sample of 600 respondents.
