Severe rainfalls expected to hit Albania

In the coming days the whole country will be hit by severe rainfalls. The National Agency of Civil Protection, in the Ministry of Defense calls that from January 22-26 there will be heavy rains throughout the country, and that municipalities and prefectures should take measures so that this situation does not find them unprepared. As these rains can affect the increase of the level of the main rivers such as Drini, Mati, Shkumbini, Vjosa, Semani and in particular the Drini basins, with possible consequences leading to floods, in order to preserve the life and property of the population , living things, objects of special importance, environment and cultural heritage, the National Civil Defense Agency requests from the local government should intensify the work for putting the local and central operational structures on alert.According to the information of Institute of Geosciences , Energy and Water, the intensity of precipitation is expected to go up to 230mm / 24 hours in certain areas, such as the northern regions of Shkodra, Kukes, Dibra, without excluding other regions.
