Public transport will not open on June 15 as decided by the government..
Following the protests of the last few days, today through a statement to the media, the Union stated that they will not resume work on Monday, the 15th, as if the government decided, without fulfilling their conditions.
During this period, on behalf of the public transport entities, the responsible institutions, in a financially and legally argued manner, requested the undertaking of the necessary measures that will enable the performance of this service according to the protocols published in the media, namely:
Free Public Transportation for all categories of passengers during pandemics, guaranteed through funding from central and local authorities, as a practice followed by other countries in the Region and the EU. In these conditions, the operators guarantee a maximum readiness for the strict observance of the security protocol. As a second alternative to the impossibility of free transport, it has been proposed to the decision-making bodies:
Subsidizing missing revenues for transport entities as a result of security protocol restrictions
Excise and fuel tax exemptions, as implemented in other sectors of the economy
Reduction of VAT on sales from 20% - 0% for 2020 and return to the next level 6% as the tourism hotel sector.
Reimbursement at source of categories which benefit free public transport.
Only the approval and implementation of these facilities will enable the performance of public transport service according to the published orange.
