New study on coronavirus..
The latest study reveals that people infected with coronavirus but who have no signs do not play a major role in transmitting the disease, as they are very rare.
WHO data are based on reports from countries that monitor in detail the contacts of those infected, including asymptomatic cases.
"If we had observed all the symptomatic cases, isolated them, monitored the contacts and placed them in quarantine, we would have drastically reduced the transmission of coronavirus," Van Kerkhove said.
She also said that people who do not have symptoms of the disease caused by coronavirus, COVID-19, often pass it more easily.
She reiterated that coronavirus spreads through saliva droplets, which can be released when someone coughs or sneezes.
Worldwide, coronavirus has affected more than 7.1 million people. Of these, over 3.2 million have recovered and over 406,000 have died.
