MEP Kukan It seems that this is happening.EU will open negotiations with Albania

Albana is expected to receive the recommendation for opening the accession negotiations with the EU, said MEP Eduard Kukan for Deutsche Welle. According to preliminary information, Albania and Macedonia will have a positive recommendation. Kukan, member of the EU Foreign Commission and member of the Committee for Cooperation with Western Balkan, told Deutsche Welle that he hopes these countries have made essential progress with their EU integration path. According to Kukan, the European Commission has seen Albania making progress with the key priorities in the public administration, judiciary reform, fight against corruption, organized crime and human rights. Earlier this year, the President of the European Commisison, jean Claude Juncker, said that Albania is continuing the reforms and the Commission will recommend opening the accession negotiations within the first six months of 2018. “It seems that this is happening”, Kukan said for DW. European Commission will publish today the report on progress for 6 Western Balkan countries, where , while Albania and Macedonia, are expected to receive recommendations to open negotiations regarding the membership in EU, while Kosovo should not expect positive reports. Another challenge, which doesn’t completely depend on Kosovo, is the dialogue with Serbia. “Kosovo needs to deepen the dialogue with Serbia, including the implementation of all agreements, especially the association of Serbian communes”, the European Commission declared. The Commission values the ratification of the border agreement with Montenegro and appeals the political class to advance with reforms for the stabilization-association reforms.
