It is a small church, but the most famous one by believers and non-believers in Albania. The Church of Saint Ndou in Laç believed to have healing powers. Pilgrims from all religions from all over the country, even from abroad come to perform their pilgrimage there. The peak is on the 12th-13th of June, where according to the statistics of Laç municipality, even the data from the priests in Saint Ndou Church, 1 million pilgrims come and visit it within 48 hours. The pilgrims have never stopped worshipping the miracles of the saint even during the communist regime when religion was banned and all the religious buildings were demolished. In 1967, even the Saint Ndou`s Church walls were demolished by the regime, but people never stopped worshipping secretly the holy site and ask for miracles and solutions to their problems. This phenomenon seemed to disturb the regime of that time where a group of soldiers was ordered to destroy a surrounding wall of the church, but to everybody`s surprise, they were paralyzed during the attempt to demolish the wall, a mystery with no answer so far. With an ancient history that dates back to the twelfth century, even high officials of the communist regime, exactly those who closed the doors to the religious institutions of that time, have come to seek health and miracles in the church. The preachers there and the Franciscan province in Laç have published a book where are witnessed all the miracles of the saint. There we may find witnesses of people suffering from incurable diseases, people suffering from physical disabilities and who have suddenly started to speak and see, witnesses of people who have found their fate in love, and people of mental problems who were completely healed and found peace. Outside the church, it lies as mysterious and miraculous as the cave of Saint Vlash”. Many people put in queues and visit the cave, where you can see clothes, photos, and praying letters put in the rock`s cracks by people. Many believers choose to sleep there for at least a night in order to be blessed and gain spiritual peace. "Saint Ndou", the most famous saint among Albanians, was born in Lisbon in 1195. He was a Franciscan Friar known for his strong devotion to God. He is a saint of the Catholic Church.
