Maybe you have not heard before about our beloved Albania, but believe us you will be amazed by what our country will offer you. Albania is a wonderland destination for road trips, it offers stunning views and fresh air. Towering mountains sit majestically above the endless Mediterranean coastline, the crystal-clear water sparkling invitingly below as you weave your way along amazing mountain roads. If you love road trips try to take one in Southern Albania. It is defined by high mountains and a few valleys and plains between them so it means the views you will see, will be in your mind for a lifetime. You will come across some of the most beautiful cities here in Albania, to mention here Berat, standing on the footbridge surrounded by huddles of Ottoman houses with rectangular windows staring from whitewashed walls like a thousand eyes. If you want to see more here you can have great views from the fourteenth-century Kalasa, a splendidly restored citadel towering above the town. For those who love to learn more about the history and our culture, there are a lot of museums, the best Onufri Museum, dedicated to the country’s foremost icon painter, famed for his use of a, particularly vivid red. Next, you will see Gjirokastra our UNESCO World Heritage Site, described as "a rare example of a well-preserved Ottoman town, built by farmers of the large estate". Defined by its castle, roads paved with chunky limestone and shale, imposing slate-roofed houses, and views out to the Drina Valley, Gjirokastra is a magical hillside town. On your way to Saranda, you can visit the wonderful Blue Eye, an underwater spring forming a pool of deepest blue. It's setting in a cool, remote grove is quite spectacular – the water is delicious, and you can swim in it until you get the chills. There are a lot of beautiful beaches if you want to spend a relaxing time after the long road trip or if you aren’t feeling yet exhausted, you can still visit unforgettable places like Butrint National Park.
