The six Western Balkan leaders gathered on Wednesday evening in Brussels in a meeting with European Union foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini. Albania and Kosovo were represented at this informal meeting with prime ministers in office, Edi Rama and Isa Mustafa, Serbia with a prime minister who will soon assume the post of the President. After the joint dinner with Mogherini, Isa Mustafa from Kosovo, Aleksandar Vuçiç from Serbia, Denis Zvizdić from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Zoran Zaev from Macedonia and Dusko Markovic from Montenegro, Albania's prime minister in particular underlined the need for regional co-operation and the approach of the region countries with the European Union. Mogherini has expressed concern over the rise of nationalist speeches in the region, mainly when they come from senior politicians and heads of state. Mogherini has also repeated the message that the Balkan is Europe's key region and that is why the prospect of EU integration needs to be strengthened. Rama said that after June 25th elections, the Albanian government and the opposition will seek unanimously the opening of negotiations for EU membership. The Prime Minister Edi Rama through a post on social networks has also announced that he will meet today with the US President Donald Trump, heads of states and governments of NATO member countries, with Chancellor Merkel, king of Belgium and other personalities.
