Albanian Radio Television monopolizes Parliament Signal


Since Thursday any television station ready to broadcast parliamentary sessions will be required to pay a fee for TRA in exchange for the signal. This is decision of created the immediate reaction of opposition representatives to albanian parliament. Seems like Albanian Radio Television (ART) is trying to monopolizes the broadcast signal of the parliamentary session. This made that Chairman of the Democratic Party (PD), Edmond Spaho to request immediate interrption of the session. “We must take prudent measures to enable the session broadcast on each television station”, Spaho announced. Alsow the chairman of the Socialist Movement for Integration (LSI) parliamentary group, Petrit Vasili, described this mourning as a reminiscence of 1997. “ART is fully controlled by the government. This is a total black for the important Albanian media. We are going back to a media era”, said Vasili. Prime minister Edi Rama declared that ART cant impose its logo to other stations due to session’s broadcast is not an exclusivity of Albanian Radio Television.
