This can be overwhelming for many visitors so we’ve put together our suggested 6-day itinerary that takes in Central Albanian’s most beautiful cities. 2 Days in Tirana Because it’s the capital, and because you need some time to rest after your flight we recommend staying for at least 2 days in Tirana. Being the capital it offers a lot of possibilities to enjoy the best time and to gather the best moments and memories from this city. There are a lot of tourist attractions which you can find them here. We recommend you save some time and go for a walk at Tirana Artificial Lake, it’s a place you shouldn’t miss because it offers some great views and we are pretty sure you will be amazed by this place. Rich in history and tradition, Kruja is home of the patriots and the epicenter of Albania’s independence from the Ottoman Empire. It was here that Gjergj Kastriot Skanderbeg, Albania’s greatest national hero, defended the country from the invasion of the Ottomans. The main tourist object is the castle of Kruja where the museum of the National Hero Skenderbeu is located together with the Ethnographic Museum. The Kruja Bazaar is an activity where you can find handicrafts with National motifs and various antiques. Because of its history and unique style, this city is worth visiting by tourists. 2 Days in Durres Definitely tourists in Albania shouldn’t miss the chance to try the crystal-water and beautiful beaches that’s why after visiting Kruja we recommend spending 2 days in Durres. It has wonderful beaches and it’s the perfect place for families with little kids because it offers tourists sandy beaches which are the favorite of the kids, an excellent selection of seafood, traditional dishes, and many fun activities. Most important, the shallow water beaches make the Adriatic coast a great and safe place for active children. 1 Day in Elbasan To end this 6-day itinerary in Central Albania, you should visit Elbasan city, it’s only some km away from Tirana so you can get back in only 30 min. Now the old center of the city of Elbasan is represented by the castle district (Kala), where you can still admire the old city walls, built on the ruins of the Roman and Byzantine fortifications. Inside the fortress, you can see the Royal Mosque, dated back to the fifteenth century, the Orthodox Church of St. Mary, built-in 1650, and the Byzantine Church. The city is one of the cultural capitals of Albania and it houses several museums.
